skype would be better if Microsoft did not get its hands on it

What do mean get its hands on it?

Microsoft bought skype a few years ago, and since then, it's been crashing or locking up, which nothing but a pain

Before or after Stickam days? Why did skype's owners sell it?

I think skype is an awesome software! every software will have a bug or too!

microsoft wants a strangle hold on everything, so they bought skype, but since they have it, it's been crashing or working so slowly it barely works, it's a pain. and it was after stickam had gone

Well now it is worth more then what Microsoft probably offered them. That is why I would not sell it.

As near as I can tell, there aren't too many alternatives to Skype out there at the moment. As for Microsoft purchasing it, the move was meant to give this company a better stake in this highly competitive market (another factor in the purchase is the fact that they stopped supporting then making their MSN Messenger service). I partially agree with MTV that Skype isn't what it used to be (considering how many annoying and bothersome adds that are on the program now), but such is not something that any of us can control.

What features have changed since Microsoft bought skype?

it has just become more buggy and prone to crashing a lot more often. if it aint broke, why fix it

A factor in how often Skype crashes is a computer's age and processing power, as there are some computers that aren't powerful enough to accommodate Skype's resource needs and are older than a certain age. I am no expert on this however, and don't claim to be.

That makes perfect sense though. Microsoft probably dumped a load features that eat up Ram Space for nothing.

As far as I know, the only Skype add-on in existence is the "click to call" function... I could be wrong about this however.

the biggest mistake was merging it with the MSN messenger, now skype crashes constantly.

You can't know would it grow or fall if got concurention. It is best to use now when you got offer. And that amount of money us more than enought for life.

Agree.

As far as I guess Microsoft would never have given up on it, they just keep offering more and more, therefore the offer would have always been there!

I gotta agree with you Brandon, purchasing Skype was Microsoft's response to Google introducing its Google Talk program

and because microsoft wants a strangle hold on anything that is working to connect people

I've heard that Google Talk is a much better program, but its not as readily available in all areas like Skype is.
