I use it t advertise my forum
I post new graphics, forum updates, forum store ideas and sometimes i post a join message 

After that i see like 30 guests which is good 
i post about two times per week

It's actually 240 characters now I believe. It's still too short in my opinion. I am not a huge fan of the short text, cause it's hard to make a great post with so few characters.
