Train sets!

1mtvfan wrote:yeah, because the coupler mounts between the flat car and my three main locos were set differently

1mtvfan wrote:ergo the shim

1mtvfan wrote:yes, it means the coupler height issue is pretty much solved

1mtvfan wrote:it is pretty solved, just need to test it

1mtvfan wrote:at this rate it looks the new shim test wont happen until fall or winter at the earliest, if at all, because there has still been NO landscaping work to commence yet, so it means i sit out on running sessions for yet another summer, making me miserable for 2 years straight. Sad

1mtvfan wrote:bound to happen when personnel are Awol or pull no show

1mtvfan wrote:update, was able to get down to the set and test the new shim, which has worked to some degree, but more testing is in order as there are still some issues to sort out, was also able to get two new containers down there as well, but the further testing will have to wait as the builder is continuing to drag his god damn feet on the landscaping issue, so it means my summer is again wrecked for yet another year.

1mtvfan wrote:yes, but too little progress

1mtvfan wrote:update, may go over to the set and start packing up my locos and equipment at some point in the near future, as it is not looking good that the landscaping project will start anytime soon, so that means packing up my equipment is about the only option i have left, as sad as it is. i am SICK of the waiting and foot dragging every time i mention the issue, so i will be starting the process soon. Sad

1mtvfan wrote:the planned area for the set to go isn't great, but i'm sure there is little i can do other than accept it, or make do with a simple 4'X8' figure 8 on a plywood sheet.

Thanks for the #updates on the status of your #train_set .

@1mtvfan Isn't the train set gonna be taken down and re located in the somewhat foreseeable future anyway? Why bother adding anything else to the current set up, when your only gonna have to take it all down anyway. It would be smart to put off adding anything else until after the re location is complete. Then it will probably be easier to add on to the train set in terms of decorating and stuff because it will be in the same house as you. Wink

Train sets!

1mtvfan wrote:also, the 50 foot flat car no. 303313 has been set aside but is still on the layout.

1mtvfan wrote:Update, paid a visit to the LVCRR. Also, back corner near the freight station has lifted up again, which is being very annoying when i run my container train, bcause it means my AP flats have to remain out of the consist, that's not what i got them for. Sad  also, new pic follows

Spoiler:

former Soo line 30 ton depressed center flatcar no. 54003, also the camera flat, carrying a 20' Container

1mtvfan wrote:sure hope there will be a group operating session at some point before the last run ever of the LVCRR, also, you are all free to contribute buildings or equipment to the set in whatever form it exists in

1mtvfan wrote:and if you do want to contribute, the scale is HO, so look for anything with that scale listed on the box or packaging, and online should you choose to go that route.

1mtvfan wrote:update, former CP rail 8205 has returned to the LVCRR, it just has to make it's debut after almost a year in the repair shop. former Soo line no. 772 and former BNSF no. 7835 are still in repairs, but 7835 is getting close to exit, 772 will be in a while longer as it needs a new rear driveshaft, disappointing, but unfortunatey, there's nothing more i can do. also, there are 2 new units to add to the LVCRR fleet, which should be taking their first runs tonight, and on DCC.

1mtvfan wrote:further update, former CP Rail GP35 no. 8205 has failed the DCC test and needs further repairs, however, the new locomotive arrival, former Conrail SD45 no. 6641has passed the test and performed flawlessly, even under load, pictures follow.

Spoiler:

Former Conrail SD45 no. 6144 in the box on it's arrival to the LVCRR fleet

Spoiler:

Former Conrail SD45 no. 6144 resting on a turntable spur after successfully completing its initial trials.

Next up is former CP rail GP9 no, 8827 for DCC tests, then the CN rail F9B, may try 8205 again later also, but it will go back to the repair shop at some point

1mtvfan wrote:further update, paid a visit earlier today to the set, DCC tests are continuing,, but am thinking 8205 and 8827 need a visit to the repair works also tried the B unit on DCC, and nothing happened, but it is ok if that one does not work on DCC, because we will soon have at least 2 locos that are working on DCC.

1mtvfan wrote:update, went for an operating session today, which will most likely be the last operation session for 2016, and one new grain hopper from [Only mods are allowed to see this link] has made it to the rails, so it has been added to the westbound grain consist, after some minor adjustments and repairs, have to wait and see if there will be a operating session tomorrow and future sessions for 2017, because as of last October, i will always refuse to go solo anymore.

Thanks for the [Only mods are allowed to see this link] on your [Only mods are allowed to see this link] as well as for the [Only mods are allowed to see this link] of your train set.

[Only mods are allowed to see this link] May you PLEASE stop mentioning anything about the issues between you and TigerTankFan in regards to the train set. We all do not need to know about that and it would only have led to a fight on here between you two if it had not been for my foe code.

Please mtvfan, for the sake of BD, please dont mention any issues you or TTFan may be having in regards to your train set and any dis agreements you may have in regards to the train set please keep amongst yourselves and keep it off of BD.

Thanks in advance and have a Happy and Safe New Year.

Train sets!

1mtvfan wrote:well, whatever his account is, he's sending me 2 new cylindrical grain hoppers, and, further update, the 3 new grain hoppers have all hit the rails and are running fine, one had to be renumbered, but no further issues have come up with it, so it is being a fine piece of equipment. also, if i can find a radio tower and a sufficient building to match, the BGRN will have a spot on the existing layout as well as the new layout if there is room for it

Not going to lie. The prospect of a BGRN tower and radio station building on your train set sounds cool. I have plus 1'd your post. If that ever happens, make sure to send me a picture of it. Smile

1mtvfan wrote:well, if i go back tomorrow, it'll be TTfan and i both there, as the issues regarding the set have been subsiding quite a bit lately, and TTFan, this isn't the place to be nursing a grievance. just saying.

1mtvfan wrote:seriously contemplating another sit out after another long solo session night tonight.

1mtvfan wrote:updtae, new flatcar, Former CP rail no. 303313, has been officaly added to the LVCRR roster, and is being loaded with a heavy construction roller, although there is a need for more chaining down on it, as it is bobbing around back and forth quite a bit

1mtvfan wrote:further update, construction roller has been secured to the new flatcar so it will not roll around or off, but, as the landscaping has STILL not commenced, i am really considering another boycott until the work on the landscaping ACTUALLY gets started, i am sick of waiting for everything to happen when the builder just wants to sit on his backside and watch boring and depressing news that is nothing but dreck and BS. also really considering just packing up all of my equipment and pulling up my stakes in this whole venture for a while.

1mtvfan wrote:update,

another SOlO session at the LVCRR tonight, no thanks to TTfan's immaturity, and he calls me childish, MAJOR case of the pot calling the kettle black, and STILL No landscaping in place, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! really contemplating another prolonged sit out.

1mtvfan wrote:still one more solo session at the LVCRR, getting very sick of operatin' on my own, really wish [Only mods are allowed to see this link] would get his act together and abandon the immaturity, new pic will go up tomorrow though

1mtvfan wrote:once again a solo session at the LVCRR, and it's going to be the last one, if [Only mods are allowed to see this link] goes for a running session, i will go, if not, then i stay home, also, it is looking like a winter boycott is in the works, as the landscaping is yet still unfinished, and i am STILL sick of waiting for this work to get started, because the sooner it starts, the sooner it is finished. this is going to be one miserable winter SadSad. newest pic follows

Train sets!

1mtvfan wrote:the F9B will be on the passenger train soon, and it sure will help it to climb that hill on the helix, because the F9A has to be in Notch 8 to climb the hill, and it flies around the corner off the hill, which is very dangerous because it makes a likelihood of the locomotive or parts of the train flying off and hitting the floor, which is not wanted.

1mtvfan wrote:former SOO line no. 772 will be returning soon, and former BNSF no.7835 will be returning to the shop for some slight upgrades, but they are not expected to take long. the repairs that is

Train sets!

1mtvfan wrote:they just came apart, as in body and under frame separated, and we canm't add safety nets every where due to clearance issues

TigerTankFan wrote:As most model train cars and locomotives are not fireproof, there was no explosion in the usual sense. What actually happened was that two in my collection hit the floor and either came apart (their body separated from their frame) and/or lost couplers & wheels (albeit temporarily). In response to the comments about safety netting, there are some nets in place already but certain places cannot be fitted with these due to accessibility issues.

1mtvfan wrote:i believe that was addressed in my last post ttfan

TigerTankFan wrote:Paid a visit to the setup tonight, and everything is where its supposed to be.

1mtvfan wrote:had to work tonight, so no train set for me, along with a few other things keeping me away, which shall stay under wraps to avoid any venom to cause drama
