Why don't you just put it in a box car or something .
Re: Train sets!
Interesting, we'll have to think about that.

Re: Train sets!
it's too wide to fit in a boxcar, because the way it has to be placed to film means it won't fit

Re: Train sets!
So film blackness and fix it when it gets out, or use one of your 89 flats tie it up good.
Re: Train sets!
have a depressed center flat to put my gopro on, but he gopro and housing are still too tall and wide to fit under the levels of the proposed helix, and any other areas of underpasses created by the added 2nd level

Re: Train sets!
don't know how much taller it can be made, because if the grades change too much, the trains won't be able to handle them, or keep on the rails.

Re: Train sets!
Does the height really matter all that much? I mean the distance between each level on the helix?
Re: Train sets!
it does, a lot, the grades have to be passable to keep the trains on the rails

Re: Train sets!
Well can't you build it in a way where it works but is tall enough to suffice your go pro? As they say if there is a will there is way.
Re: Train sets!
i don't know how much wider i can make it, as i said, changing the grades too much will effect the trains performance, and how much equipment they can haul

Re: Train sets!
such is a matter of clearance, and this can cause a LOT of damage. I've seen at least one photo that shows a rail-car with its top torn off after going under a bridge that was too low.

If it is so risky why use this precise method?
Re: Train sets!
Sometimes there is no other choice, but we could always film a train using the helix after the location in question has been fully built.

Re: Train sets!
There is bound to be another method out there somewhere.

Re: Train sets!
the helix will not be built for a while yet, as a reverse loop still needs to be built first, then the helix will come to fruition,

It will take some time to find another way, but I'm sure that it will work out in the end.

Re: Train sets!
it's only a drop of 4 inches or so, but if my go pro won't fit inside the helix, i will have to set it to film as a static camera, unless i can find a way to film w/o using the housing for it
