most of it is scattered about in old boxes and bins or in a big and heavy desk that has to be cleared out also, Tiger Tank Fan and i tried to run a grain extra combined with our grain car fleets on the set tonight, but it did not happen due to coupler issues. however, we will try again tomorrow and i will have my camera on to film it for you all

Especially if it is the engine coupler, those stink when the break because the it is virtually impossible to make a train with. If it a train car one, you can usually either crazy glue it, or simply no longer use it (train cars are cheaper and one usually has multiple of the same cars).

glue will not hold on couplers, there is too much stress on them from the force of pulling, and today, the locomotives and the equipment all use the same style of coupler, it is called a knuckle coupler, and the best one is made by a company known as Kadee, but there are a few cheaper options that work almost as well, but a Kadee coupler is what is always recommended for a locomotive as the cheaper versions will almost never handle the forces put on it from the locomotive pulling, and if you want a pic of what a Knuckle coupler looks like let me know, either i or Tiger tank fan will give you a pic of one

Maybe glue does not, but it comes to a point where it is like, what other choice does one have?

On a train engine? That is a lot of work and require a free day because you must take the entire engine apart. 2nd if you do not have spare couplers hanging around then you must search every store in town to try to find one (which is hard to do today since a lot places see no point). So it is simply easier to crazy glue for as long as possible. Even if it is not a permanent solution, it is a well worth it one for awhile.

if you use horn hook style couplers, yes, but as was said before, it is better to replace them to Knuckle couplers, as they are more readily available, and the entire locomotive very seldom has to come totally apart. but either way it is a good idea to keep spares about, be them knuckle style or horn hook style.

Well such was the case with me personally, I did not have any spares and I and my Grandfather did not have much time to really put a lot of effort into fixing them permanently, it was just easier if it was not entirelly broken (like un usable and un glueable due to the fact he peice that locks with the other car is broken off) to glue it. We had a lot of cars and train engines that were un usable and just sat in the box because of this type of issue. We always someone had at least 1 operatable engine to use though so it was not that bad.

true, but the standard couplers are the knuckle style today. Also, i have a pic of a knuckle coupler, along with a number of other pictures, which i will add to this thread if you all want to see them.
