Sounds like an interesting system.
Re: Train sets!
the kill switch is a safety thing, but the containers are just for looks

The kill switch sounds like a great idea .
Re: Train sets!

Ah ok, I am sure you wil figure it out.
Re: Train sets!
i hope so, or it will have to be wired in to the whole layout, which would be kind of excessive

Re: Train sets!
here's a "real life" shipping container for you guys
[Only mods are allowed to see this link]
don't know if it relates, but it shows you the scale of the model ones next to the real.

I know! Thanks for sharing!
Re: Train sets!
those are just temporary axles, as it is a container chassis, when the container has reached its road destination, it i will be then lifted off the trailer, and either placed on a train, and shipped by rail to a container port and then stacked on a ship, and go across the ocean to Europe or Asia.

Re: Train sets!
yup, containers are the way of connecting the world in shipping today, it's very modern and unique, even some have been turned into housing for the low income crowd

Re: Train sets!
Shipping containers can go anywhere around the world, and be tracked too (thanks to 24-hour gps tracking). As for how the setup is doing at present, I was visiting it recently but there are still no operations taking place as of yet.

Indeed, in fact I have read about the low income housing thing recently as well. Quite amazing!

Indeed! It is amazing what a giant piece of metal in the shape of a cylinder can do!

Re: Train sets!
Most shipping containers are a box-shape actually, but there some cylindrical tank containers in existence. Getting back to the main topic of this thread, there has been no progress on the setup's repairs as of today (9/15/2015) but such doesn't mean that such isn't happening anymore.

repairs are on hold, as there are more pressing issues that need the time, but they will be dealt with and repairs will resume when the time allows. also, here is a real tank container
