Phase 3 is the helix, and work on that will start once (or shortly after) work on the 2nd level has been completed.

the helix is not phase 3, it is part of phase 2, but it will lead into phase 3, which is the reverse loop, and a freight yard, which will only be single ended unfortunately, but it is still a place to store the frieght equipment, without having to put them away in boxes

We plan on adding a single-ended freight yard to the layout (in addition to the helix) as part of the 3rd phase of layout construction. Speaking of this, I have some new photos of this setup to share with all of the users on this website... and will ad them when I can.

So is this train yard like a storage yard (for trains) or something? Also do you guys have any railroad crossings (with cars)?

we are working on the layout first, then the scenery, but we plan to add some level crossings where we can, and yes, a yard is for storing the trains and equipment, because it's a pain to have to put everything back into a box after each running session

U are correct about what a freight yard is, but there are no level crossings on the layout at this (well, not in the traditional sense anyway). Moving on, I have some new photos to share with u via the BD.

the last two are of an 89 foot "All Purpose" flatcar, and shows how it can be used to carry two different loads

We plan on trying to get the supports concealed with decorations once all of the construction work is done, but I honestly don't know when this will happen.

we have some landscaping to do on the elevations to hide the supports as best we can, as well as add some parts to close in the gaps. and the turntable was another issue
