Recommended Budget Mixers (< $200) Empty Recommended Budget Mixers (< $200)

Post by pwnsomewin Wed 20 May 2015, 10:58 am

Here are some mixers that are cheap but the best bang for the buck, so to say. I have not used all of these, but have heard them come up many times.

Mackie Onyx 802VLZ4 - $199.99 - http://www.amazon.com/Mackie-802VLZ4-8-channel-Compact-Quality/dp/B00EDHWLFI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1432133028&sr=8-7
The Onyx series is well known. This is an 8-channel mixer; complete with 3 quality Onyx microphone preamps. It has 3-band EQs, phantom power, and is probably the best quality mixer on this list.

Behringer Xenyx X1204USB - $179.99 - http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-X1204USB-BEHRINGER-XENYX/dp/B0039PPW60/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1432133258&sr=8-2
Behringer is known for having a lot of budget equipment. This is a 12-channel mixer with 4 XENYX microphone preamps. It has 3-band EQs, phantom power, effects, and USB. Even with all these features, Behringer can be a hit or miss, sometimes having defects. However, if you get the right board it'll work wonderfully.

Yamaha MG10XU - $199.99 - http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-MG10XU-10-Input-Stereo-Mixer/dp/B00IBIVL42/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1432133572&sr=8-2
A 10-channel mixer with 4 D-PRE microphone preamps. It has 3-band EQs, phantom power, effects, USB, and a metal chassis design.

Alesis Multimix 4 - $59.99 - http://www.amazon.com/Alesis-MultiMix-USB-Four-Channel-Mixer/dp/B001T9O5VG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1432133761&sr=8-5
Here is an option for those of you who don't need the extra channels. The Alesis Multimix 4 is a 4-channel mixer with 2 microphone preamps. It has dual-band EQs on the microphone inputs, phantom power, and USB.

That is not advertising mtvfan. They are links to Broadcasting equipment. Those do not count as advertising.

Yeah. I just wanted to clarify... An ad is defined as a website, station and/or product of the user posting it. In this instance this is not the case and the user is just showing some helpful links to look at if someone is looking for a sound board/mixing board. Which is partially what BD is about. Smile

Jumping off what Brandon said, often I see people asking about the best mixer in a price range, because naturally those things get expensive haha. Hopefully my post was helpful though! I have experience with 3 of these brands (I own a larger Behringer mixer, my school has that exact Alesis mixer, and I've used a few Mackies), and I almost bought the Yamaha after seeing much praise for it, so I have confidence these are good choices. I have heard of some of these major companies myself. I agree under 200 dollars is a great price for a decent quality mixing board. They are expensive nowadays

Yeah,Yamaha and Mackie are big ones. Also you bring up a good point; these mixers aren't going to be your dream mixer. They're still under $200 no matter how you look at it. But they'll work well, I think.

Debatable. The preamp quality makes a big difference, for one thing.

Also, just noticed the tutorial section. Do you think this thread would fit better in there?

One has to work within their budget, as long as they get the most bang for their buck it is tootally acceptable.

This is quite true. If you have a budget of $500 I would recommend something of more value, for more quality.

Upon review of the links and items listed here, I think this would fit better in the 'Sound boards' section.

depneds very much on how much you are willing to pay, as well as the space needed for the purchased item to occupy

Recommended Budget Mixers (< $200) Empty Re: Recommended Budget Mixers (< $200)

Post by Brandon Sun 15 Nov 2015, 1:18 pm

Well, ok let me clarify how, when I made the sections, what defined a 'sound board' and a 'mixing board'. A mixing board, is a sound board (the knobs, faders and volume controls) WITH turnables. A sound bar is just the a sound board with just the knobs, faders, volume controls and other features that they come with and NO turntables. Does that make sense?

After viewing the ones you posted above, they didn't have turntables that I could see, so they are (by the 'definition' I was going by) a soundboard. Neutral.
