Microsoft Debate - Page 10 Empty Re: Microsoft Debate

Post by TigerTankFan Thu 15 Jan 2015, 5:03 pm

First topic message reminder :

If anyone is wondering, Windows 8 was originally intended for mobile devices but Microsoft had to develop the 8.1 patch because many people still use a desktop computer rather than a mobile device. Unfortunately there's going to be a time when support for win7 (which is what I'm using at present) will end, but I'm hoping that this doesn't happen anytime soon.

that's just a reminder, the likely hood is still high that everyone will be using windows 10 through their auto upgrades

No that's not the case. You have to have reserved your free upgrade. Just because your computer is eligible for it, does not mean it is automatically going to become a windows 10 pc. If you reserved your free upgrade, but have not yet upgraded, then your computer will be upgraded automatically through the updates.

Ok, I just did some research on this, yes your right that they are going to beging automatically sending the windows 10 DOWNLOAD to every eligible computer, however, this DOES NOT automatically INSTALL the upgrade to your computer, you still have to trigger the upgrade process via the pop up as I said before.

Now Microsoft stops offering windows 10 for free in July 2016, that means all you have to do, is not accidently click the upgrade button on any of the pop ups until July and your computer will remain Windows 8 or Windows 7.

so in July, we're all screwed if we use windows as our main OS, unless we find the way to switch back to win 7

No so in July we are no longer at risk of accidently upgradinf to windows 10, because as of July, you will have to pay to upgrade from here on out.

Yes, but even so, your computer is not just going to be turned magically into a windows 10 computer. They will automatically download it to your computer and send you enormous annoying pop ups, but they won't auto install on your computer, that is unless you accidently click on the upgrade buttons on one their annoying popups. In which case then your computer is screwed and will be upgraded. If you do hit the pop up, then it will not be upgraded.

Since they only offer the free upgrade until July, as long as one is VERY careful and accidently click one of the pop up until July, their computer can and will remain windows 7 or 8. Smile

If your careful you won't have to set it back, because it will still be Windows 7.

If you want further proof that they are not forcing anyone to upgrade, they have an official document that tells you how you can block not only the auto windows 10 download, but the annoying pop up apps as well.

To do these though, you got to know what the heck your doing, as it is in the system coding and one wrong move could possiy mess up the system. Neutral

Microsoft Debate - Page 10 Empty Re: Microsoft Debate

Post by DJJosh Sat 05 Mar 2016, 4:43 pm

I did find out that most laptops are already on Windows 10. Just have to add in the newest version of Microsoft Office too. Before the end of this month I will be getting all of the tips from my uncle who is a computer expert along with a tech squad guy for a whole price range in what it should be to upgrade with everything on there too. Also to get hooked up with everything too. I know it will take me a while to figure out Windows 10. I am just hoping it will work with iTunes and Spotify since I do use both of them now too. I am also hoping Windows 10 has Windows Media Player since I do use that also. But I will figure it all before the end of this month Smile

Unless they ever decide to do away with Windows Media player like they did Internet Explorer (exploder).

Ummm... You just said that!

I am not disputing what you said there. I am just saying if Microsoft ever decides to do away with Windows Media Player, then Windows won't come with it anymore.

After all, every operating system since XP came with Internet Explorer (exploder), until they finally decided to do away with it in Windows 10 and replace it their 'new' Microsoft Edge browser. Whether or not this is any better though, I don't know. Neutral

well, Internet explorer, or IE has been a pain for many lately, there's security holes and lag issues, so it was abolished, the new browser however may be the same, but i plan to keep my windows 7, for another few years and then go to windows 8

It is an updated version of the operating system, it has some major improvements including a start button. It is a major major improvement, so much so it could be even it's version of windows 8, which it is
